The Love of A Father

A father’s love, support, and guidance are everything in a little girl’s life.  My dad is one of my best friends. My dad and I have gone through good, bad, great, and the best times together.

One thing that I especially love about

my dad’s and my relationship is that we never give up on each other.  We may have a major disagreement on one day, and on the next day one of us will call the other and go grab a bite to eat, or come over the other’s house to eat, hangout, and watch television.

My dad worked in the hotel and hospitality industry.  He was the banquet captain at the HYATT hotel chain.  Growing up my mom would put me in bed early as a baby.  I would lay in bed next to my mom, while playing with my fingers and toes.  I would stay up every night until my dad came home.

At first, I was too little to crawl out of the bed, so I would have to wait for my dad to make the long walk up the hall and into the bedroom to come and pick me up.  After dad picked me up, we would head into the den and I would sit on his lap, and we would watch television.

As I grew, when I heard the sound of the back door unlocking, I would grab onto the sheets of the bed and slide down the bed while grasping onto the sheets to reach the bedroom floor.

I would then make my way stumbling unevenly down the hall to reach my dad.  He would turn on the hallway light at the opposite end of the hallway, and stand in the doorway between our kitchen and dinning room until I reached him.

He would then bend down and pick me up in this huge bear hug and give me a kiss on the cheek.  Then he would listen to me babble in baby gibberish like I actually made sense.

Not much has changed,  I am a huge talker and on long car rides to watch basketball games with dad he will later call my mom and say, “Did you know she talked the whole way?!”
